Being the Volunteer Photographer at the local Champion Lakes Parkrun this week is something I really enjoy doing from time to time. It’s an opportunity to contribute to this great institution, that is free for everyone and run by some amazing people who donate their time every Saturday morning to make it happen.

From the point of view of a photographer it’s a great opportunity to hone or develop some skills in situations that can be a little challenging at times, especially if you want that great shot of somebody running and you want to catch that moment when both feet are off the ground (big air as they call it).

There is also the chance to photograph the competitive side that we all have, it is very rewarding to capture that moment when someone is giving it “there all” and trying there absolute best.

It also presents opportunity (if your quick enough) to capture some beautiful moments between Family and friends… not to mention pets :-)

An amazing bunch of people that put in so much to make this available to so many people. There are 360 Parkruns held right around Australia every Saturday morning so you can always find one near you, and it’s free.

And from a photography point of view there is always the chance of something unexpected presenting itself :-)

A great way to start the weekend…
